ABOUT ALYSSIA
I rebuild bodies that keep breaking down.
A classically trained Pilates instructor working one-to-one from Botanica Health in Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells — for women in chronic pain, postnatal mothers, runners, and athletes tired of training that breaks them down.

After my second child, I developed lower back pain that no quick fix could touch.
I'd been a Pilates devotee through long days working as an Art director and Stylist in the London commercials film industry — After the birth of my second child and moving to Tunbridge Wells I decided to retrain as a movement practitioner. Something I had wanted to do my whole life. However around that time I developed excruciating back pain.
The practice I trusted couldn't reach what was wrong, and my body felt like a stranger. I didn't feel like I could move or even sleep without expecting pain. I was scared of weights, I was scared of twisting the wrong way, I was scared of moving my body. The advice I was given was the same advice every woman in pain seems to get: be careful, manage it, this is how you are, accept it.
I refused to accept it. So I retrained. I received my first qualification, then jumped off the diving board and started learning everything I could about how we move and breathe. I was drawn to classical pilates and trained as an apprentice, Old school study with mentors I trusted, not just a 3 day course (though I have taken my fair share of those.)
I studied the original Pilates method on Gratz apparatus, with Olivia Lerner, then added the things that filled the gaps — fascia release for the layer underneath the muscles from Jill Miller, Hypopressives breath learned from Susannah White. Work for the pelvic floor and deep core, and specialist training in pre- and post-natal rehabilitation.
I came back not as the same person — but as a teacher who could rebuild a body from the inside out. Who can show people they do not need to be afraid of moving. Because movement is the greatest medicine.
That's the work I do now, every day, with the women and athletes who walk through my door.

A NOTE
"I refuse to tell another woman to just manage it. Most of what we're told to accept isn't normal — and it isn't permanent either."
